Buffer and mineral systems: measure pH response and interactions in the food.
Trisodium Phosphate TSP
An alkaline sodium orthophosphate for application-specific pH and mineral-system evaluation.
TSP: product profile
Trisodium phosphate is an alkaline sodium orthophosphate. Anhydrous and hydrated forms, including dodecahydrate, have different water content and formulation mass bases.
Also known as: TSP · Sodium phosphate tribasic · Tribasic sodium phosphate · Trisodium orthophosphate
TSP brings a more alkaline contribution than the less neutralized sodium orthophosphates. Selection therefore begins with the required food-system response and the complete acid, salt and mineral balance.

Alkaline orthophosphate selection
Choosing the material
Anhydrous and hydrated TSP require separate material descriptions and calculations. Drying loss, assay expression and hydration identity must be read together; a water-related value is not interchangeable with phosphate content.
Planning a useful comparison
Observe pH through the process, not just in a stock solution. Compare taste, mineral precipitation and protein response where relevant, using the same water and addition sequence.
Key parameters to confirm.
Select the form before comparing assay and drying data. Trial the alkalinity in the actual recipe, including taste and protein response, rather than substituting by name alone.
These are procurement questions, not a supplied specification. Units below indicate reporting context, not acceptance limits. Compare the current grade, source, document revision and test method before agreeing values.

| Parameter | What to request | Units or test context | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Identity and hydrate | Exact form and declared composition | Named form | Avoid mixing anhydrous and hydrate data. |
| Assay and drying | Basis, method and drying conditions | Source-defined mass basis | Water loss must correspond to the named material. |
| pH and handling | Concentration for pH testing and current SDS | pH; handling instructions | Relate alkalinity to process control and safe handling. |
TSP: what to ask next.
Is TSP the same as STPP?
No. TSP is an orthophosphate and STPP is a tripolyphosphate. Compare identity, acid-base behavior and the intended function separately.
What should accompany my inquiry?
Include the exact material and form, food application, destination market and target specification. Request current records for the proposed grade and source, and identify any methods your quality team requires.
Packaging, handling & ordering
Describe the handling route and exact form in your inquiry. Use the offered material’s safety and storage information when planning receiving and preparation.
Share your quantity and required delivery timing. Minimum order, sample terms, packing and the stated shelf life belong to the specific quotation and source records.
Identity reference points
These sources support technical identity checks. They do not establish a supplied grade, source approval or permission in every food or market.
Request documents for TSP.
Tell us the material form, intended use, destination market and document purpose. Request Form-specific specification, SDS and representative COA. Records depend on the proposed grade and source; any certificate applies only within its stated entity, site and product scope.
Bring us your application brief.
Include the food category, target function, expected volume, destination market and documents you need.
